(Squeamish alert)
I donated blood tonight - my tenth time! Of course, there’s always a first time for everything.
(Stop reading if you get squeamish with blood).
I think my nurse / phlebotomist was new. She seemed to take a long time to prep my arm, seemed a little nervy, and at one point, another staff member mouthed to her, “All ok?” She inserted the needle (or pipe, as Dean calls it) much too slowly. Of course it stung a little but I’m tough! I didn’t realise there was a problem until she said it’d sprayed a little. First of all I just saw a few splats on my arm. Then I noticed the inside of my jacket, and down the arm rest, and the floor…
I faked bravery and non-squeamishness as I didn’t want to make her any more nervous than she already was. I just have to make sure I drink water tonight to combat this light-headedness each time I think of it.
